I fell in love with the Belgium Forest duck and because I could not import it, I decided to make it. As it turns out, they were literally eaten into extinction both in the UK and Belgium during the Second World War and the breed had to be remade in its home territory!
I collected as many blue ducks as I could. My goal was to make a dual purpose blue duck. I used blue Cayahugas, Blue Swedes, Pacaug Forest Ducks initially. Then to get the egg are up, I bred in blue runner ducks. It took a while to breed the runner duck body type out of the ducks. So, now I have a blue (and black and splash) dual purpose duck I call the Blue Potomac Forest Duck. It's a great duck. One the dual purpose side, it is not a fatty duck. So, if you want a lean duck, this would be a good option
These ducks are laying machines so they are laying right now. If you want to give this new breed a try, you can hit the button below and it will take you to my Ebay store. If you live locally, you can pick up eggs or I will hatch ducklings for you.
